A PERSONAL NOTE FROM DAVE...
The main reason I choose to do what I do for a living is that I know what it’s like to feel down – very down. I didn’t like it when I felt this way, so I love helping people who are not looking and feeling as they would like.
Over the course of three years or so, I found my life and health diverging from the ideals I had set in my mind. I was tired, stressed, my eyes were deteriorating and I was drinking too much. My business was failing, I was nowhere near where I wanted to be in life and I was in a lot of debt.
Why am I telling you this? Well, my own life experiences have taught me that, no matter where you are in life, you can turn things round. I managed to grit my teeth and turn things round by following the principles I now teach to my clients and would love to teach you.
When I wasn’t feeling great and did some lab testing on myself, I found that my adrenal glands were not working properly as a result of stress and that I had a digestive infection called H pylori, which was affecting my mood, sleep patterns and ability to digest food properly. Discovering all this was a catalyst for me to roll up my sleeves, address all my problems and get things back on track.
Having been down at rock bottom, I now find it so much easier to empathise with my clients’ situations, irrespective of what they tell me. Maybe they hate their job, feel they have no time to look after themselves or have multiple stresses in their lives. Everyone has a story and it’s the ability to listen to these stories without judgement that has helped me become so successful as a Personal Trainer and Lifestyle Coach.
The difficult times also taught me that there are a variety of factors that can lead to people’s challenges. Some are physical, such as lack of, or even too much, exercise poor diet, alcohol or drugs whereas other people are struggling with emotional or even spiritual issues. Any of these factors can contribute to the situation but they are all there to be conquered.
My life now has everything I want – I’m full of energy & feel great; I work hard, love my job and business, I travel extensively and am recording music in the studio on a regular basis. I am fit and very strong for my body weight and try to set an example for everyone with whom I work.
It is my heartfelt desire to help others achieve the same level of happiness and success as I enjoy. Exercise, nutrition and lifestyle coaching are key elements of the process because without a healthy body, it is simply not possible to have a healthy mind and without a healthy mind, finding happiness and fulfilment is a huge challenge.
